I usually edit the pictures themselves. If you don't have software to edit them, you can download GIMP for free (or I can edit the size for you). As far as smileys go, there's you mood/tone ones that u can select with the bar to right hand side. as far as smileys in text u need to surround a word with colons like this :l-o-l: (without the hyphens it looks like this
:lol:

Other examples you can use can be found in a menu usually in the bottom right corner called "Emoticons". Hope that answers your questions. :hug:
